Since we open up the VPS.NET Cloud for beta testing, people have send dozens of emails asking "What about the price ...?"
Coming up with a proper price was no simple task, we had to take in consideration many factors, such as all the cost to deploy a VPS in a Cloud environment, with proper fail-over redundancy and RAID-10 SAN back-ends .. those dont come cheap
, but at the same time, we wanted to make it competitive enough against standard VPS offerings (server based) that are deployed by a fraction of the price of the Cloud ... quite a task indeed.
We hope the users will see the value of the product and find the price to be quite a bargain for this type of system

As per request, the more you purchase, the larger the savings
Will this pricing include cPanel?
No, 3rd party control panels are extra.
How much will the control panels cost then?
A suggestion. At £72/month (presumably exc VAT) I think 4 nodes should include 1GHz CPU, 1024MB (1GB) RAM and 40GB HDD space with 800GB bandwidth. So 250MHz per node. That would be great value for money considering the cloud setup.
2 nodes being 500MHz would be better too!
Thoughts? Possible?
I’m impressed with the system and the idea, but it’s too expensive for me. I would rather have the hassle of setting up a cluster or backup servers.
Keep an eye on this space, we have done some more number crunching, tied up the CFO in the closet and will soon announce a different price scheme and specs !!
It seems VPS hosting is becoming very competitive. Comparing your prices to SliceHost and MD Hosting (Australian company soon to introduce VPS plans) they are not what I would call a bargain. I look forward to seeing the new prices and specs…
The original prices were not at all competitive.
Especially when you compared 3 nodes at £57 per month with the UK2.net Bronze Server at £59 per month. It just doesn’t make sense. I’d rather have the extra power and worry about redundancy and backups myself.
Although a VPS and a dedicated server are very different beasts, that comparison is what most people are using.
Chris
You cant even begin to compare the VPS Cloud with a small dedicated server, they dont relate.
In the VPS Cloud you have automatic fail-over if the hardware fails, you also have RAID 10 SAN storage, that alone from a storage provider would cost you a fortune.
Lets not forget scalability on the fly, KVM-Like shell, etc
The two are very different products indeed.
I have to agree that it’s very expensive… Especially even if it doesn’t include control panels…
Ohhhh…. that pricing hurts.Much, much too expensive. I would love to sign-up for a few nodes, but you simply aren’t competitive.
However, I’m glad you are already considering new pricing. I will return to see how you fare…
@NullMind
I hate quoting myself but:
“Although a VPS and a dedicated server are very different beasts, that comparison is what most people are using.”
I’m aware what you are saying, and I 100% agree.
I fear that you will find it a struggle to convince people to have a VPS with your current pricing though.
New pricing has been posted. linky here http://vps.net/blog/pricing-version-2/
