Steve -- any chance you could put it up in the how-to's or somewhere else? I'd be interested in seeing it as well to see if I've missed anything in my setup.

Yep
That's more or less exactly what I would like to see. I'm fairly confident in my setup, but who knows what someone else might be doing that I should be doing also. If I can contribute anything I will.

I'm gonna go with Nick's original statement:
CentOS 5.4 x64 w/ LAMP. it's like that old parable: give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for life. cPanel will make your life easier in the beginning, but you'll pay for it later. much better to just learn the linux stack from the get-go. and as always, GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND! |

So if i choose the CentOs 5.2 + cpanel template will I then need to install apache, php, mysql etc seperatly? or can I choose the CentOS 5.4 LAMP and add cpanel on top? |

cPanel does everything for you. In fact, you should NOT install apache/php/mysql if you plan on using cPanel.
You can either use one of the pre-built images w/ cPanel, or if you really want, you could install a stock CentOS image without anything else, then install cPanel. Truthfully I'd just stick with the pre-built image. Plus it will automatically set up a trial license for you until you get the license proper sorted with VPS.net support. |

Only if you have a new clean main IP ( never link to a cPanel license key before )...

so the chances that you dont get a "clean IP" is virtually zero besides the clean IP is not an issue as vps.net and cpanel support can sort that out pretty quickly anyway please get your facts correct again
