Thanks for the response. I'll continue testing and see why my rankings dropped all of a sudden.

By the way, from what I read, Highwind doesn't have any pops in Asia? Or am I looking at an old map?

My client in Asia told me his download speed is between 60-120 kb/s. I'm not sure if they have pops in Asia or not. But I am sure bandwith in Asia is much more expensive than US or EU.

I just discovered Google too and it came up with:

Highwinds maintains data centers throughout North America,
South America, and Europe including the following locations:

Amsterdam, Ashburn, Atlanta, Brussels, Chicago, Dallas,
Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Phoenix,
Sao Paulo, and Sunnyvale.

Los Angeles is a good location for Asia/Pacific area clients.
Unless submarine cable broken, it happened earier this month.
But it won't happened a lot.

Highwinds will open dedicated pops in Asia this year, currently they are doing quite well in Asia though (I've checked from China and Hong Kong) thanks to a lot of direct peering.
Unlike most other CDN's they have a pop in Brazil though.

That means when I rave about the Vengaboys they'll get to see it faster

When will we be able to create our own CNAMEs? Having to request them via email is slow and cumbersome (and so far, ineffective). Carlos said it was coming, but any ETA?

Thanks

we will have a form to request it properly via the vps.net cp in the next couple of weeks

I'm seeing this too, and it's very ugly. Is there no way to fix this? You'll note this doesn't happen with, for instance, this cname:

http://cdn.vps.net/images/backgrounds/home-content.jpg

You may think it doesn't matter because the links are embedded within the html source, but if an attachment (for instance) is clicked, the full, ugly, url is announced to the world. Very undesirable.

If this can be fixed, great. If not, how about a refund? I signed up for Edgecast which worked great, but working with Highwinds has been extremely unpleasant so far.

Please understand this doesn't mean I'm unhappy with you guys... I'm just not happy with the change in CDN vendors.

Take care,
Steve

Steve

I have asked Highwinds, but the way the system is set, this might not be possible, also, when using a CDN, some exceptions are expected on the way files behave, I'll refund your unused traffic if this cannot be changed.
