i'm not sure that solves the issue, as you can use any kernel that has xen in it, so you can install or remove kernels at will, i'm not sure how it differentiates without having some sort of kernel manager within the vps (hence grub)
would appreciate some comments from vps.net/onapp about removing grub and its relative safeness to do

I'd probably await official confirmation but tech support have informed me that after me throwing my toys out of the pram the image for Debian 6 64-bit has been upgraded! To little to late for me but a welcome update none the less.
