Hey guys,

Just got done installing Nginx 1.0.5, PHP 5.3.6, PHP-FPM, Varnish 3.0, WordPress 3.2.1 on Centos 5.6 x86_64.

Most of the sites I host are Wordpress sites so I'll be doing a future post adding memcached, and W3total cache and CDN into the mix. So far page speeds are looking super fast.

Here is the link to my Nginx 1.0.5, PHP 5.3.6, PHP-FPM, Varnish 3.0, WordPress 3.2.1 on Centos 5.6 setup.

I still have to clean up my notes but I think I got the most important which should help most people get up and running. Although if you're compiling you're bound to run into problems, if you're not familiar with compiling and don't have patience, this may not be the setup for you. Just an FYI...

Let me know if you have any questions.

My server load dropped by 40% when I changed the w3 by wp super cache. Change has already tested the caching plugin?

its worth mentioning that w3-total-cache is a much more comprehensive solution than wp-super-cache, and out of the box its defaults are safe for most shared hosting based sites which is often not very optimised for dedicated or vps'...

to get it to work well with a vps you need to make sure you install APC as well and also configure the plugin to use it and also to purge varnish as well

also that guide must be old already

Centos is at 5.7 and 6/6.1 already
PHP is at 5.3.8
nginx is at 1.0.9
