Nice offering indeed.

Could we please have only the "Active monitoring of the VPS" for the according monthly fee?

Will there be special pricing considerations for this plan for those that choose to run multiple VPSs in a HA configuration?

Thanks

We went back and forth on this internally. Some thought it should be more expensive because of the complexity of handling clusters, but we decided to keep it at the same price - however no special pricing though, you would have to pay for each of the servers under management.

What is the difference between this, and the old managed service which was cheaper?

Could you offer a points base support where a customer could buy say 50 points which would then be used to buy certain support functions. Eg It would cost you 2 points to set up GD etc etc

The 'old' service was not managed. It was simply a migration service. So there was no 24/7 element techs, no livechat, no server monitoring and proactive tech assistance.
The 'old' service simply migrated your sites and setup your server.

The old service was $99/2 weeks, this one is $99/month...so, it's basically half price!

We have incl. the 'old' service in the setup (hence the $49 setup fee), where we migrate all your sites, secure server etc.

So, basically we now provide FULLY managed cloud servers for $99/month. We did not offer that before.

We really prefer to keep things very simple at VPS.NET. I feel that $99/month - which is less than many admins would charge you per hour - is a fair and low price for a 24/7 service incl. livechat and 15 min's reply SLA's on critical tickets.

We have considered introducing an a-la-carte management menu, where you would be able to chose between several levels of service. And we are still looking into that - however we would not go down to the level of tickets or installing individual modules.

Does this Managed option mean that dotDefender would not be necessary since you would be handling the security?

the plan includes a "monthly" security overhaul of the VM, for continuous protections you should use dotDefender still

What if I just want help setting up, but not interested in monthly advise? How much does it cost?

At the moment it will cost the same as purchasing a month of managed support

we do have plans to introduce a "one ticket / one problem / 24 hours" for a small fee in the very near future

I guess it's around $50. But it really depends on what amount of work it would be.

Seems really expensive imo, i guess it depends on how big the problem is.

I won't spill the beans, but it won't be $50. :)

I signed up for managed support months ago.

I came in today to find the phone ringing with clients complaining their websites had been down all morning. Looking at my VPS CPU usage charts they had been over 20 nodes for a couple of hours.

In this instance I would have expected someone who was 'actively' monitoring the VPS to restart and resolve this issue somehow to avoid any downtime. I had to contact support myself to get them to notice something was up.

So I ask again... what exactly do you mean by 'Active Monitoring'?! After today's issue, excuse me if I'm not convinced anything is "actively" being "monitored".

I can assure you alerts were made and looked at. So far the answer I'm getting is they checked what the alert came in for, which was SSH and it worked..

Regardless, this shift dropped the ball, and repercussions will happen.
