Accessing VPS.NET sandbox uses plain-text authentication without SSL
03 July 2011 - 07:36 AM
Regarding VPS.NET ticket #107584
I am concerned that VPS.NET has chosen to risk compromising customer information by not supporting SSL access to the sandbox testing environment. In my support request, the VPS.NET representative stated the following: "I talked to our developers and they told me that there is no point in setting up sandbox with secure access since it is just a test environment. Please, use simple http for api. Please, let me know if you have any more questions."
This is wholly unacceptable, unless you expect customers to input invalid, fake, or other "made-up" information when creating a sandbox test account. -
VPS.NET forums use invalid e-mail sender/from address causing delivery problems
03 July 2011 - 07:04 AM
The VPS.NET forums are using an invalid Sender/From address header and this is causing me, and probably others, to not receive e-mail updates from the forums.
Example mail server log entry, munged:
/var/log/exim_rejectlog:5911:2011-07-02 12:44:09 -0500 H=raq423.uk2.net (simon.uk2net.com) [83.170.78.4]:49979 I=[x.x.x.x]:25 F=<apache@simon.uk2net.com> rejected RCPT <me@mydomain.tld>: Sender verify failed
The e-mail is not received because "apache@simon.uk2net.com" is failing sender verification.
I have a ticket, 109640, open where I reported this issue, but I'm posting here too to let others know that might not be aware they could be missing e-mail from the forums; it may not be obvious until examining mail server logs.
