  1. London C - Same problem 4 times in 2 days!?

    23 August 2011 - 03:34 PM

What the hell is going on with London C? It appears that a SAN has failed 4 times in 2 days! Each time it was "fixed" only for it (or another) to fail again.

And what's worse the most information we get about the failures is "a SAN on Lon C cloud was down" despite asking for more information (ticket 120354).

This is a joke! Sort it out!!
  2. Alternative cPanel Backup

    22 August 2011 - 09:30 AM

I've been using the built in cPanel backup facility for the past couple of years to backup all my cPanel accounts to a remote FTP account.

However as my server has grown, it's been taking longer and longer to complete the backup, and also causes high CPU loads. Looking at the latest logs it appears to take 17 hours to complete! And is slowing my server down during the day.

I've come across cPremote which claims to be much faster, and limit CPU load.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of cPremote, or any other cPanel backup solution?

    Thanks
    James
  3. London C SAN Issue Praise

    21 July 2011 - 08:34 AM

My VPS on London C was down last night for 30 minutes, the status blog says a SAN failed. This is the first time my server has been down in about 6 months, and possibly in about a year due to a VPS.NET issue, so I'd just like to give praise for the reliability of this cloud.

I'm also suitably impressed at the time taken to solve the issue, and the updates on the status blog. Thank you.

    A couple of queries though:
    • I'm interested to know exactly what caused the SAN to fail, and how it was fixed. Any risk of this happening again?
    • Also, the time stamps in the blog post appear to be incorrect, it states that the SAN was fixed at "09:05 GMT" and that all VPSs were started by "10:30 GMT". However my VPS was down from 05:00 to 05:30 UK time. This is not only a different time zone, but also shows a different downtime length?

    Thanks
    James
