  • Move my Virtual Private Server (VPS) to another location

If you would need to move your VPS to another location, this guide will detail the steps needed to perform this move. 



1. Log in your account at https://control.vps.net/ and locate your dashboard or list of servers.



2. Click the name of the server you want to move.

3. Shutdown your server.
Note: Use the ‘force power off’ option if the server hangs during the shutdown process.


4. Check your server has fully shut down by confirming the light bulb status is off.


5. Select the “Copy & Backup” tab on the top, and then “Move VPS”.


6. Choose the desired location for your server in the drop-down menu and select “Confirm”.

7. The migration process will be initiated to new location. The migration can take between 15 minutes and a few hours depending on the size of your server and destination selected.


8. Once the migration is complete, the server will power on automatically. The new IP and location are shown in the dashboard as below:


9. Now your server has moved and been allocated a new IP, you may need to re-configure any local services and DNS records.
